Cyprus Temporary Residence Permit ‘Pink Slip’

Non-European Union passport holders may stay in Cyprus longer than three months with a temporary residency permit, or “Pink Slip”. Additionally, regardless of the length of their first visa, it will allow tourists and visitors to prolong their stay. Before their existing visa expires, they should submit the relevant application.

Overview of the Cyprus temporary residence permit

In Cyprus, the pink slip has a one-year expiration date and can be renewed annually. A person is permitted to reside in Cyprus as a visitor with this permit (without the right to work). His spouse, children, and other family members (under certain conditions) are also considered dependents and are eligible for the pink slip. Every member of the family may apply at the same time and receives a temporary residency card.

Pink Slip restrictions

  • No right to work in Cyprus;
  • Cannot leave the country for more than three months at a time;
  • Only granted to non-EU nationals who wish to extend their stay in Cyprus;
  • Valid for one year; must be renewed annually

How to obtain a Cyprus Pink Slip

1. Pink Slip requirements

The applicant must primarily demonstrate the following in order to be approved for this sort of permit:

  • Sufficient foreign income to pay for living expenses while staying in Cyprus (estimated at roughly €33,000 to €36,000 for a three-member household);
  • either rented or purchased a home or apartment.

2. Application processing time

    After applying, you are permitted to stay in Cyprus until the temporary residency permit card is issued, which usually takes 3-5 months.

    3. Necessary documentation includes the below

    1. Application form for a temporary residence permit in Cyprus as visitor duly completed and signed (one for each family member)
    2. Rental agreement or sale agreement of a house or apartment
    3. Bank statements and proofs of transfer from abroad: In this regard, it is noted that deposits/Transfers of the required amount of funds in a Bank account in Cyprus should be transferred from abroad. If brought in cash needs to be declared at the airport on arrival and get the confirmation document. If a bank transfer, proof that the money was transferred from abroad is required (swifts or confirmation from the bank in Cyprus)
    4. Bank guarantee: Each family member should have their own bank guarantee established in a Cyprus bank. The sum varies by country of origin.
    5. Health insurance
    6. Documents to prove income from abroad: It can be any stable income, namely employment wages, bank deposits, interest from deposits, dividends, pension etc. This income should enable the temporary residence holder to cover their living expenses in Cyprus.
    7. Passport copy
    8. Marriage Certificate duly certified and translated by an official/sworn translator
    9. Children’s Birth Certificates duly certified and translated by an official/sworn translator

      It is noted that depending on the applicant’s country of residence the documents may need to be translated into English and bear the «APOSTILLE» stamp or be certified by the Ministry of foreign affairs of the country that will issue them and by the Cyprus Embassy of that Country.

      4. Cyprus government fees

      Application for the issuance of a Temporary Residence Permit for the first time or renewal is €70 for each family member.

      Registration and issuance of the Aliens Registration number ‘ARC’: €70 for each family member (payable only the first time of application).

      5. Application submission location

      To submit an application, the applicant must do it through their city’s immigration office. The Department of Civil Registry and Migration receives and examines the applications in further detail to give the final approval and issue the residence cards.
